RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A SMART, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENT HI-TECH INTEGRATED ODOUR SYSTEM

This Project involves the design and development of two experimental prototype odour control systems for field trials at the AMADESA Condominium Rubbish Centre in Kuala Lumpur and Genting Hotel Garbage Collection Centre in Genting Highlands. Arising from the study on these prototypes, a cost effective commercial and industrial spray system is developed with tremendous commercial potential and application in odour- prone situations.

The project also involves the development of a number of natural product-based odour control spray solutions (as shown below) containing aromatic essential oils with locally produced citronella oil as the main constituent essential oil. The inherent properties of the essential oils used have general disinfectant and germicidal properties which help to prevent disease and repel vermin, besides their desirable fragrances. The products are safe, biodegradable, non-toxic and environmentally friendly at the spray solution concentrations recommended for use in odour- prone areas such as garbage collection centres in hospitals, shopping centres, hotels, condominiums, transfer stations, farms and sewage treatment plants.

The study also involves a review of international odour standards; the conduct of a health and safety aspects study; market feasibility study; all of which point to the merits and commercial potential of adopting the odour control spray systems and solutions developed in this developmental study.
